Community Champions
Voices of Change
Seven stories of climate resilience, told by the people living them.
Across Kenya's indigenous and pastoralist communities, climate change is not an abstract threat - it is fewer rains, drier pasture, and harder choices about water, food and land. These seven stories, told by the community champions living them, show how indigenous knowledge and a rights-based approach to conservation are already building resilience: ecotourism that pays for itself through tree planting, drought-tolerant crops intercropped with pasture, beekeeping that turns forest protection into income for elders and youth alike, seed-saving that keeps food security in local hands, and water and land conservation led by the people most affected - including persons with disabilities too often left out of the conversation.
Produced with the CGIAR Initiative on Climate Resilience (ClimBeR) and the Centre for Minority Rights Development (CEMIRIDE), each film lets a community champion speak for themselves.
