Privacy Policy

The Centre for Minority Rights Development (CEMIRIDE) ("CEMIRIDE", "we", "us") respects the privacy of everyone who visits this website, applies for an opportunity with us, registers as a programme participant, or otherwise shares information with us. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it.

What we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Contact details you give us directly -- name, email address, phone number and organisation -- when you fill in our contact form, apply for a job or consultancy, apply to a procurement opportunity, or subscribe to our newsletter.
  • Programme participant information -- for people we work with directly in our minority and indigenous rights programmes, this can include demographic details (such as age, gender, disability status, ethnicity and location) that help us report accurately to our donors and partners on who our work is reaching, and a signature where a physical or digital consent form is used.
  • Documents you choose to upload -- such as a CV/resume with a job or consultancy application, or company registration and other supporting documents with a procurement application.
  • Basic technical information our hosting provider records automatically for security and reliability (e.g. IP address, browser type) -- we do not use third-party advertising trackers on this site.

Why we collect it

We use this information to deliver and report on our programmes, to consider job, consultancy and procurement applications, to respond to enquiries, to send newsletter updates to people who have asked for them, and to meet our own legal, donor-reporting and accountability obligations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or trade personal information. We may share programme and beneficiary data, in aggregate or anonymised form wherever possible, with our donors and partner organisations for funding reports and oversight, and with relevant government authorities where we are legally required to. Job, consultancy and procurement applications are only shared internally with the people involved in that specific recruitment or procurement process.

How we protect it

Access to personal and programme participant data within CEMIRIDE is limited to staff who need it for their work, and our systems use access controls appropriate to the sensitivity of the information -- this matters especially for programme participant data, given the communities we work with.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as required by donor agreements, Kenyan law, or our own accountability obligations, after which it is securely deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to any legal or donor-reporting obligation that requires us to keep it. To do so, or if you have any other question about this policy, contact us using the details below.
