
Brian Sengeli
Brian Sengeli is the Centre for Minority Rights and Development (CEMIRIDE)’s Governance and Inclusion Projects Officer. CEMIRIDE’s governance programme has led efforts to enable over 3 million minority and indigenous community advocate for their rights in democratic processes and participate in key decision-making courses.
Brian Sengeli is a distinguished advocate for inclusive governance and digital democracy in Kenya. With a strong background in public policy, governance and civic engagement, Brian has dedicated his career to giving minority and marginalised communities a voice in government processes. His passion for democracy and good governance has led him to pioneer projects that promote inclusion and participation of marginalized communities in electoral processes and reforms, key decision-making courses, inclusive legislations and bridge the gap between technology and inclusive governance, with a particular focus on empowering the youth of the community.
Brian's expertise in political advocacy is evident through his contributions to various advocacy platforms such as the Open Governance Partnership (OGP Kenya), Civil Society Parliamentary Network (CSPEN), Civic Freedoms Forum (CFF) and his involvement in electoral reforms through Elections Observation Group of Kenya Technical Working Group (ELOG TWG) electoral reform through the Technical Working Group of the Kenya Election Observatory Group.
Brian holds a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration and Governance and has further honed his skills through specialized courses in areas such as Leadership, Fraud and Forensic Investigation in public sector. He’s also a Digital Democracy Fellow 2024 Cohort 1 offered by The Constitution and Reform Education Consortium (CRECO).
His commitment to building a fair and just society where everyone can participate in the democratic process is evident through his extensive professional experience and involvement in professional networks such as the African Youth Leadership Forum.
Brian's ultimate vision is to leverage technology and informed policies to create an inclusive democratic landscape in Kenya where all citizens, especially minorities and indigenous peoples, can actively contribute to a prosperous and equitable society.
