May 10, 2023Inclusive Climate Change Adaptation for a Sustainable Africa (ICCASA) and Centre for Minority Rights Development (CEMIRIDE) has received a grant from the Africa Climate Change Fund (ACCF), administered by the African Development Bank, to finance the Strengthening the Voices of Women with Disability to Actively Participate in Climate Change Policy and Negotiations (STREVOW).
The principal objectives of this project are to: Increase realization of rights among women, men and youth as foundation for gender- transformative, low carbon and climate resilient development in Eastern Africa.
Specifically, the project seeks to:
• Enhance empowerment of Women with Disability (WWD) in Eastern Africa
• Improve inclusive climate change policies in Eastern Africa
• Increase influence of WWDs in Climate Change Actions in Eastern Africa
The project includes the following components:
a. Training of WWD to engage in policy negotiations processes in Eastern Africa
b. Supporting WWD to participate in policy negotiations in Eastern Africa
c. Developing of WWD engagement frameworks for participation in policy making in Eastern Africa
d. Developing alliances for WWDs to engage in policy negotiations in Eastern Africa
e. Packaging and disseminating evidence materials for national, regional, and global policy advocacy in Eastern Africa
f. Translation of UNFCCC decisions into accessible formats for WWD in Eastern Africa
